Rev. Craig B. Mousin
Workshop: "What if the biblical story never happened—the biblical narrative and immigration law"
How do we participate in living the Gospel narrative and the legacy of foundational Vincentian figures? Craig Mousin will address this question as it applies to our broken immigration system. He will explain basic elements of immigration law, and will consider how the narrative of familiar biblical characters would be altered if subject to contemporary immigration policies and law. He will highlight how a ministry of healing, such as the Interfaith Committee for Detained Immigrants or welcoming refugees, can lead to a faithful response as well as legislative reform. This session will examine the spiritual call to vulnerability and the political call to ask where do we find our security. Ultimately, we will learn how the Vincentian family can serve immediate physical and spiritual needs of the poor, especially immigrants and refugees, while facilitating systemic change.
